Big, and I mean big, Week 6. Checked in with a 12-4 log and a still unblemished 6-0 for Leo’s Lock. That put $525 in the kitty raising the pot up to $1,065. Not bad as we move toward the half-way point of the season.

Now, the picks get tough. Nothing over the 10-point spread (unless a Florida team playing) which will eliminate a lot of contests especially in the collegiate ranks. But, no excuses. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead into Week 7.

New York Jets (+8 1/2) loses to NEW ENGLAND

I don’t care who the new coach is for New York or how well they’ve done this season or Revis Island is back or anything else about the Jets. This is all about the Pats and they are on a mission for whatever reason. The New England Express with an easy double-digit victory in Foxboro.

SYRACUSE (+7) loses to Pittsburgh

The Orange are still trying to get back to where they were before freshman QB Eric Dungey went down with an early-season injury. He’s back but he’s still a freshman and learning on the fly. The Panthers are still trying to get over the loss of their possible Heisman Trophy candidate RB James Connor in the opener to a season-ending knee injury. Pitt has more running back depth than Syracuse has experience at quarterback so look for Pittsburgh to get a big road win at the Carrier Dome.

Boston College (+7 1/2) loses to LOUISVILLE

BC defense is really good and Louisville offense really bad. That’s a wash. Eagles offense is pretty bad and Cardinals defense pretty good. Another stalemate. Winner could, and probably will, score less than 10 points with the home team sweeking out a 9-6 triumph at Papa John’s Stadium.

Jacksonville (+4) loses to Buffalo

The Jags play a game across the pond every year so they’re used to the travel routine for a London kickoff. Problem is the Bills, even with E.J Manuel under center, have too many weapons for the banged-up Jacksonville defense to stop. Buffalo wins but it will be close.

MIAMI (-5) loses to Houston

Yeah, I know. New coach in Miami last week got the Fish a win. That’s the good news. Bad news is the Dolphins have no one who can block the Texans J.J. Wattor slow down RB Arian Foster. Houston comes to South Florida and goes back to the Lone Star state with a victory.

Oakland (+4) loses to SAN DIEGO

My question is how did the Charges lose at home to the Steelers two weeks ago on the last play and get beat in Green Bay when QB Philip Rivers puts up over 500 yards through the air with no interceptions? Don’t look for the Raiders to put up the trifecta in San Diego. Bolts win on a last-minute field goal.

MIAMI-FL (+7) loses to Clemson
GEORGIA TECH (+6 1/2) loses to Florida State
Southern Methodist (+13 1/2) loses to SOUTH FLORIDA
CENTRAL FLORIDA (+21 1/2) loses to Houston
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (-3 1/2) loses to Utah
Mississippi (-5) loses to Texas A&M
VIRGINIA TECH (- 3 1/2) loses to Duke

Tampa Bay (+3) loses to WASHINGTON
Dallas (+4) loses to New York Giants
Baltimore (+9) loses to ARIZONA

Missouri at VANDERBILT (34 1/2)

Mizzou has quarterback woes. Vandy, on the other hand, has entire offensive woes. Defenses may outscore the offenses but it will still be a low-scoring affair. Enough said. Take the under.

Kentucky (+11 1/2) at MISSISSIPPI STATE

Don’t get excited. This isn’t the Wildcats basketball team getting double-digit points from the bookmakers. It’s the football team but, this season, Coach Mark Stoops has the Cats playing good football. Just ask Florida. May not win in Starkville but they will cover. Take the points.

Atlanta at TENNESSEE (+5)

QB Marcus Mariotta is out with a sprained knee. That puts Zach Mettenberger under center for the Titans and the Dirty Birds, who are still smating from their first loss of the season in New Orleans last week, will put big pressure on the Tennessee back-up QB. Playing in Nashville won’t help either as the Matt Ryan to Julio Jones show helps Atlanta to a big win. Lay the points

Philadelphia at CAROLINA (46)

Panthers playing just well enough to win. The Birds are just starting to see what their offensive looks like when it’s hitting on all cylinders. Look for Carolina QB Cam Newton to make some big plays on the Eagles gambling defense. Look for RB Demarco Murray to have a big game helping Philly answer with points of the own. Take the over but be prepared for it not to exceed the total until very late in the game.
