I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the New York Giants for cooperating last week with Leo’s Lock. The G-Men managed to rescue defeat from the jaws of victory and increase my record to 9-1. Sadly, went a mediocre 7-8 the rest of the way to finish $155 in the red. Subtracting that from the overall total, still playing with $980 of house money. Not bad if I do say so myself.
Getting down to the nitty-gritty part of the season now especially on the collegiate level. NFL no easy pickings either. Let’s just say if it was easy everyone would be doing it so here goes for Week 11.
VANDERBILT (+6 1/2) loses to Texas A&M
I get the fact that the Vandy defense held Florida to 9 points a couple weeks ago but the Aggies have a slew of weapons on offense. Commodores hold A&M to 27 points but can’t score 28. Weather in Nashville could keep it closer than anticipated but still look for Texas A&M to come away with a W.
MISSOURI (+7) loses to Tennessee
Mizzou at home but way too much turmoil in Columbia. Coach Gary Pinkel is retiring after being diagnosed with lymphoma in May and players threatened to strike against BYU last week if President didn’t resign over racial issues. President hung it up so that was a big win for players. You would hope they will put that kind of effort into the last home game for Pinkel but Tigers just not that good. Rocky Top with a big road win.
UTAH (-1 1/2) loses to UCLA
Utes suffered a devasting double overtime loss to Arizona in Tucson last week and I think the air is out of the Utah balloon. Bruins come to Salt Lake City and steal a win.
Southern California (+4) loses to OREGON
This is going to be a shoot out in Eugene. First one to 50 wins. Ducks have more playmakers than the Trojans so got to go with the Quack.
Washington (+7) loses to CAROLINA
Skins defense under coordinator Joe Barry playing really well. Problem is Panthers D playing even better. Plus the game is in Charlotte and #1 will be wearing blue. Carolina stays undefeated.
Indianapolis (+6) loses to ATLANTA
Dirty Birds gift wrapped a win for the Bucs and were embarrassed by the 49ers. They will be in ill humor when the Colts come to Hotlanta. Georgia Dome will be kind to the Falcons and a big help in beating Luck-less Indy.
Florida Atlantic (+31) loses to FLORIDA
MIAMI-FL (+2) loses to Georgia Tech
PITTSBURGH (-2) loses to Louisville
ARMY (+4 1/2) loses to Rutgers
TEMPLE (+2) loses to Memphis
Mississippi State (+4 1/2) loses to ARKANSAS
Baylor (+1) loses to OKLAHOMA STATE
Michigan (-3 1/2) loses to PENN STATEa
Tampa Bay (+6) loses to PHILADELPHIA
Dallas (Pick) loses to MIAMI
Wake Forest at CLEMSON (48)
You would expect a letdown from Clemson with a road contest coming up against in-state rival South Carolina and then another jaunt to Charlotte for the ACC Championship probably against a pretty good UNC club. Don’t expect it to happen on Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day as well as the last time this year the Tigers run down the hill at Death Valley. Why ? Dabo won’t let it happen. Guys in Orange will get 48 themselves. Take the over.
Louisiana State at MISSISSIPPI (-6 1/2)
If Ole Miss beats LSU this week and Mississippi State next week they win the SEC West if Auburn beats Alabama. Hey, stranger things have happened. Rebels keep their part of the bargain with a win over the Tigers in Oxford.
Green Bay at MINNESOTA (44 1/2)
6-3 Packers looking up at 7-2 Vikings in NFC North. That won’t sit well with the Pack. Look for the Green Bay O to put the pedal to the metal. Vikes offense has a few weapons too. Expect #12 in Green and #28 in Purple to put big points on the scoreboard. Take the over.
Buffalo (+7) at NEW ENGLAND
Bills didn’t believe they could stay with the Pats in their first meeting until it was too late. Young Bills have grown up since then and New England is beat up especially on offense. May not beat the Pats in Foxboro but they’ll stay close till the end. Take the points.
