By Leo Haggerty

And Week 4 was Leo’s Losers!  Had a terrible week but that’s what happens when you predicting an inexact science.  Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you.

Last week, I was the main course for Smokey.  Was way off on Leo’s Lock (3-1 overall) and that cost me $2 big bills.  Followed that up with an unimpressive 2-3 with Leo’s Losers (10-10 overall) that put me another $175 to the red.  Finally, finished with a horrendous 3-7 with Leo’s Others (27-13 overall) that cost me another $200.

Bad news is that I lost $575 last week.  Good news is I’m still to the good to the tune of $605.  Need to get it turned around so here’s my picks for Week 5.

GEORGIA TECH (+7 1/2) loses to Miami-FL

HC Mark Richt has “The U” heading in the right direction.  HC Paul Johnson has to regroup the Yellowjackets after the shellacking they took from Clemson last Thursday night in Atlanta.  Just not enough firepower at Tech to keep up with the Hurricanes.  Miami 45-35 in a slugfest.

Louisville (-2) loses to CLEMSON

Hey, I picked Clemson to play in the Championship game in Tampa.  It’s “put up or shut up” time for the Tigers.  Cardinals come into Death Valley riding high after a big win against Florida State two weeks ago.  Louisville is a juggernaut on offense but they haven’t had much success in the past scoring points on a Brett Venables defense.  Look for much of the same Saturday as HC Dabo Swinney gets a big game from QB Deshaun Watson.  CU 34-26 in a nail-biter.

GEORGIA (+3) loses to Tennessee

Same tune for the Vols.  I have an all-orange final in Tampa but Tennessee needs to stay focused.  First road game is “between the hedges” in Athens and a possible letdown after beating Florida to “get the Gator off their back” after 11 years will test Rocky Top.  HC Butch Jones needs to bottle his halftime speech and open it up before kickoff.  If UGA had RB Nick Chubb the outcome may be different but they don’t.  Tennessee 35-24 with a couple of late scores.

INDIANA (+6 1/2) loses to Michigan State

Sparty doesn’t like to lose, let alone get embarrassed, especially at home.  That’s exactly what Wisconsin did to Michigan State last weekend in East Lansing.  HC Mark Dantonio will have the complete attention of the Green & White this week and will play much better against the Hoosiers.  MSU 30-10 in rout.

BALTIMORE (-3) loses to Oakland

Yea, I know the Raiders have to come cross-country to play the Ravens.  Yes, I know the Baltimore defense has only given up 27 points.  Yes, I know HC John Harbaugh has the Purple & White leading the AFC North with a perfect 3-0 record.  Here’s what you need to know.  HC Jack Del Rio set the tone by going for the win instead of the tie with his two-point conversion late in the opener at New Orleans.   The Silver & Black are for real and they have bought into what the coaching staff is selling.  Oakland 22-20 with a long late FG by Janikowski.

Los Angeles (+8) loses to ARIZONA

The big question is what Rams offense will show up Sunday in the desert.  The one that got shut out in the opener against the 49ers in Frisco or the one that dropped 37 on the Bucs Sunday in Tampa.  My guess is that it’ll be somewhere in between.  Plus, HC Bruce Arians will have the Birds “foaming at the mouth” after they were humbled by the Bills in Buffalo last weekend.  Arizona 28-10 with a bounce-back win.

CINCINNATI (+5 1/2) loses to South Florida

North Carolina (+10 1/2) loses to FLORIDA STATE

VANDERBILT (+10 1/2) loses to Florida

PENN STATE (-2 1/2) loses to Minnesota

MICHIGAN (-10) loses to Wisconsin

Oklahoma (PK) loses to TCU

Denver (-3) loses to TAMPA BAY

Indianapolis (-2 1/2) loses to JACKSONVILLE

New York Giants (+5) loses to MINNESOTA
