Like Southwest Airlines says, “Need to get away?” is just about how I feel. Yes, keep winning but at a miniscule rate. It seems like I haven’t had a double-digit winning week since Roosevelt was President and that was Teddy.

Leo’s Lock came through again (7-2 overall) for $100. Leos Losers was a pitiful 1-4 (21-24 overall) and that cost me $300 yen. Finally, Leo’s Others saved my bacon with an outstanding 8-2 (56-33-1 overall) performance that added $300 to the kitty. That has increased the bank $25 moving the winnings up to a total of $855.

ARMY (-2) loses to Air Force

This game is for the Commander in Chief Trophy. If Air Force wins they lock it up. If Army is victorious they can claim the prize by beating Navy but that’s another story for another time. Game is at West Point and the Black Knights are much improved but the rest of the positives belong to the Falcons. The big one is the Colorado Springs airmen have already beat Navy. AF, 27-23, and it will be as close as the score indicates at Michie Stadium.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE (+5) loses to Florida State

Ok, does anyone believe that the Seminoles are going to lose their 4th game of the season? I surely don’t but, if they do, the grass may start to look greener for Jimbo Fisher down in Baton Rouge. LSU can definitely provide more green when it comes to the Benjamins but FSU keeps the head coach in Tallahassee with a big win over the Wolfpack in Raleigh. Florida State, 35-20, with RB Dalvin Cook having another multi-touchdown game.

MIAMI-FL (-3) loses to Pittsburgh

Yes, the Hurricanes are at home. Yes, they played Florida State and Notre Dame down to the wire. And, yes, I know HC Mark Richt is a master motivators and will have Miami fired up as well as ready to play. Here’s the problem for the Canes and it’s simple. Don’t think they can’t contain Pitt RB James Connor. Look for #24 to have 30 carries and rack up over 200 yards on the ground. Panthers, 30-28, with a late field goal.

Iowa (+7) loses to PENN STATE

This game will not be for the faint-of-heart. It’ll be old- fashioned smash-mouth football. If this game was in Iowa City I would probably be on the other side of this but it’s in Happy Valley. Nittany Lions, 17-13, in a slugfest.

Jacksonville (7 1/2) loses to KANSAS CITY

HC Andy Reid is 16-2 coming out of the bye week in his NFL career. I don’t know why but he just is. And his teams usually go on a tear for a long stretch after that game and that’s right where the Chiefs are now. The Jaguars, on the other hand, are sinking fast. KC, 27-14, as they continue up the AFC West standings.

BALTIMORE (-2) loses to Pittsburgh

It’s a simple matter of guessing when Big Ben is coming back to quarterback the Steelers. I’m betting on this week. Pittsburgh will need him to beat the Ravens in Baltimore. The Burgh, 28-20, in a close one.
