By Leo Haggerty

The end of an era! Army, after over a decade of frustration, finally beat Navy.  To make matters worse, I picked Army to win so my submariner father was probably rolling over in his grave.  Sorry, Dad, but when you have to start your 3rd team QB in a rivalry game, got to go with my head and not my heart.

And, my one-week losing streak also came to a halt.  Scored again with Leo’s Lock (12-3 overall) for another c-note.  Had a decent 3-2 log (37-38 overall) with Leo’s Losers to put $25 in the bank.  Finished off with a 6-4 slate (94-55-1 overall) with Leo’s Others that was good for $120 in the black.  That totals up to a positive $245 for Week 15 and brings the arithmetic up to $1,925 to the good for 2016.

So, as the weather starts to turn cold and nasty, I’m hoping I can stay hot in Week 16 with all NFL picks.

Speaking of picks, look for my College Bowl Preview to come out this weekend.

Jacksonville (+6) loses to HOUSTON

An AFC South match-up with playoff implications.  At least for the Texans.  Jaguars just can’t seem to find a way to win and this week will be no exception.  Houston, in the friendly confines of NRG Stadium, controls their own destiny.  It’s simple.  Win out and your in.  That starts this week in the Lone Star state.  Texans, 27-13, and that keeps them the lead dog on the AFC South sled.

CHICAGO (+6 1/2) loses to Green Bay

In this one, it looks like weather is going to be a huge factor.  The Windy City is expecting a high of 9 degrees for kickoff and that’s cold.  Look for a lot of turnovers due to cold hands and a harder than normal football.  Very low scoring but the Pack, behind QB Aaron Rodgers, keep the pressure on the Lions.  Green Bay, 16-6, and keep Detroit with in sight.

Tennessee (+5 1/2) loses to KANSAS CITY

Chiefs hold the hammer with two wins over the Raiders.  New England has to go to Denver to play the Broncos so KC, with a win and Pats loss, would be in the catbird’s seat for the top seed.  Look for HC Andy Reid to have his charges primed for this one.  Titans are playing for first place in the AFC South but the atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium is not conducive to visiting teams coming out with a victory.  Kansas City, 27-17, in a game that stays close until the end.

WASHINGTON (-5) loses to Carolina

This one’s a gut feeling.  I just don’t think that the Panthers are that bad.  Plus, QB Cam Newton gets to showcase his talents to a national audience.  Washington is more lucky than good but all that matters in the NFL is the numbers to the left of the dash.  I would feel much better if All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly was playing but I still think the guys from Charlotte come out victorious.  Carolina, 30-28, with a late field goal to seal the win.

New England (-3) loses to DENVER

If this game was at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, my choice would be different.  Problem is that it’s going to be played in the Rocky Mountains at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium. Big reason is the Broncos need this game more than the Pats.  A Denver loss could put them out of the playoff picture so I believe their focus will be crystal clear.  Denver, 27-24, with a long field goal in overtime.

NEW YORK JETS (+2) loses to Miami

Yeah, I know that the Fish will not have their starting QB but that won’t be enough to stop Miami from getting to nine wins.  Jets have all sorts of problems and had to go overtime to beat the lowly 49ers last week.  Dolphins, 28-10 in the cold.

Los Angeles (+15) loses to SEATTLE

Tampa Bay (+7) lose to DALLAS

Detroit (+5) loses to NEW YORK GIANTS

Philadelphia (+6) loses to BALTIMORE

Indianapolis (+3 1/2) loses to MINNESOTA

Cleveland (+10 1/2) loses to BUFFALO

Pittsburgh (-3) loses to CINCINNATI

Oakland (-3) loses to SAN DIEGO

San Francisco (+14) loses at ATLANTA

ARIZONA (-2) loses to New Orleans
