PONTIFICATING FROM THE SUNSHINE STATE – JULY 23

NO, I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Today’s column is definitely from the “You Cannot Make This Up” file. Believe me, it’s hilarious so please read on.

Here’s the good news.  Tom Brady finally reported to One Buc today for the first time.  With Covid-19 still on a rampage in Florida, #12 has not been able to make it to the facility in Tampa.

So, with the National Football League and the NFL Players Association coming to an agreement on protocol for training camp, players can now begin to arrive at team headquarters.  No problems so far, right?

Well, when Brady pulled up to the guard gate at One Buc, there was a small problem.  Mike, the security guard who I have known for years, asked TB12 who he was and did he have a work ID.

Now, you have to catch the video of the aforementioned scene just to catch the look on Brady’s face when he was asked to prove he belonged at One Buc.  He had that “do you not know who I am” look and it was priceless to say the least.

A memo to the Buccaneers.  You should give Mike a raise for doing his job.  You’re not getting past the gate on his watch unless you have the proper identification even if you’re the GOAT of NFL quarterbacks.

Welcome to Tampa Bay, Tom.  Here’s hoping the transition is a lot smoother in the days to come.
