By Leo Haggerty

Week 10 started out a little bit iffy on Saturday.  Notre Dame winning in OT and Texas holding on for a victory plus Pitt with a road triumph.  Not  a good start.

Sunday had some down moments as well with the as the Dolphins and Saints scoring impressive road victories.  My short term investment banker was looking to recoup some of his losses.

But, as Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over till its over” and that was the case in Week 10.  Check out what transpired below.

LEO’S LOCK (7-2) returned to its winning ways.  That was good for 200 rubles.  LEO’S LOSERS  (27-18) didn’t fare as we’ll.  Posted a 2-3 log and that cost me 475 pesos. Luckily, LEO’S OTHERS (57-33) came through big time with an 8-2 record.  That put 925 lira in the black.

So that brought the Week 9 arithmetic to 11-5 and that was good for 925 greenbacks.  That puts the 2020 total at 92-52 and that equates to 4,075 francs to the good.  Not a bad nest egg if I do say so myself.

Now, lets get right to my Week 10 picks.  Lot of games being cancelled or postponed so, for that reason, I’m waiting until the last minute to post.  Enjoy.

VIRGINIA TECH (-2 1/2) loses to Miami-FL
Yes, I know the game is in Blacksburg and the Hokies are coming off an embarrassing loss to in-state Liberty.  Still, the Hurricanes have a shot at getting to the ACC Championship tilt if they win out.  MIA, 28-24, with a late stop to keep the dream alive.

NEBRASKA (+3) loses to Penn State
Two traditional powers both looking for their first win of the 2020 campaign.  Look for the Nittany Lions to come out of this one with a victory because they have more game experience.  PS, 33-30, with a FG in OT.

PURDUE (+3) loses to Northwestern
Battle of two undefeated teams.  Yeah, you read that right.  The Boilermakers and the Wildcats have both found ways to win all their games  this season but I think HC Pat Fitzgerald has a better defense.  NW, 19-17, in a low scoring affair.

Southern Methodist (-1) loses to TULSA
Talk about a strange game.  The Ponies are 7-1 and the Golden Hurricane are 3-1.  The Oklahoma crew is still undefeated in the American Athletic Conference and beat both Florida conference schools at their place.  Not an easy task.  Plus, it’s at Chapman Stadium.  TUL, 41-33, in an AAC shootout that goes down to the last team with the pigskin.

CAROLINA (+5) loses to Tampa Bay
Two reasons for this.  First is no RB Christian McCaffrey for the Panthers.  Second is Bucs QB Tom Brady played awful last week against the Saints.  Don’t look for a repeat performance from #12.  TB, 27-21, as the Pewter Prates get back on the winning track.

NEW ENGLAND (+7) loses to Baltimore
If the Ravens had not recently suffered a loss to the Steelers, I would give the Pats a good chance to spring the upset. Black Birds need this one to stay within striking distance of Pittsburgh in the AFC North.  BAL, 30-20, with Lamar Jackson throwing for one TD and running for a couple more.

HOUSTON (-14) loses to South Florida

Arkansas (+17) loses to FLORIDA

Florida State (+10 1/2) loses to NORTH CAROLINA STATE

Temple (+25 1/2) loses to CENTRAL FLORIDA

Illinois (+6) loses to RUTGERS

MICHIGAN STATE (+7 1/2) loses to Indiana

Jacksonville (+13 1/2) loses to GREEN BAY

MIAMI (-1 1/2) loses to Los Angeles Chargers

Cincinnati (+7) loses to PITTSBURGH

Denver (+3 1/2) loses to LAS VEGAS
