First of all, Merry Christmas Eve. May the day before bring you as much joy as tomorrow.
Again, I’m moving LEO’S LOSERS up to Thursday for two reasons. First, the Buccaneers play on Saturday so Rob Kriete will be posting his day before the game Buc Up column on Friday. Second, the collegiate regular season is over so I need to use all 16 NFL games and one of them is Friday.
Well, let’s get right to it. Week 15 got the train back on the track.
LEO’S LOCK (11-4) returned to the win column and that was worth 200 yen. LEO’S LOSERS (49-26) posted another impressive 4-1 slate and that added 325 rubles to my bank account. LEO’S OTHERS (90-60) was a decent 6-4 and that gave me 300 marks in the black.
That all added up to an 11-5 weekend. From a financial standpoint, I pocketed 825 lira which brought a frown from my short term investment banker.
So, the arithmetic through Week 15 is 151-89. That computes to 7,500 krones (money in Norway) of house money and that ain’t bad if I do say so myself.
Without further adieu, let’s get to the Week 16 selections. Only NFL so I’ll have to use all of them. Enjoy
Minnesota (+7) loses to NEW ORLEANS
Two reason for this pick. The Saints need the win to clinch the NFC South. New Orleans needs to win to stay in the hunt for the playoff bye after losing to the Chiefs last week. Those are good enough for me. NO, 35-21, as Brees and Company celebrate Christmas with a victory in The Big Easy.
JACKSONVILLE (+7 1/2) loses to Chicago
Bears still have an outside chance for the playoffs if they win out and get some help. The Jags are now the lead dog in the chase for Trevor Lawrence and a win would throw a monkey wrench into those plans. CHI, 30-16, as the Windy City Crew stay in the postseason hunt.
San Francisco (+5) loses to ARIZONA
The Cardinals are also looking to make it to the NFL’s second season but must win out and get some help too. The 49ers will think it’s a home game being that they have been forced to take up residence in Phoenix for the duration of the season but that won’t be enough. ARI, 31-13, with Murray throwing for 3 TDs and rushing for the other.
Cincinnati (+7 1/2) loses to HOUSTON
The Bengals coming off a big home win over the Steelers. The Texans coming off a close road loss to the Colts. I’m looking for the Lone Star Guys to bounce back. HOU, 31-28, with a late Watson TD pass to seal the deal.
WASHINGTON (-1) loses to Carolina
The DC club needs just one win to clinch the NFC East or should I say Least. The problem is that it won’t happen this week. CAR, 17-14, with the Panthers getting a late stop in a low scoring affair.
Indianapolis (-1 1/2) loses to PITTSBURGH
If this were in the dome in Indy I’d be picking the Colts. The problem is it’s not. Steelers are in desperate need of a win and playing at Heinz Field is just the recipe for success. PIT, 24-20, with an assist from Mother Nature.
DETROIT (+10) loses to Tampa Bay
Atlanta (+10 1/2) loses to KANSAS CITY
NEW YORK JETS (+10) loses to Cleveland
New York Giants (+10 1/2) loses to BALTIMORE
Miami (-3) loses to LAS VEGAS
Denver (+3) loses to LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
DALLAS (+2 1/2) loses to Philadelphia
GREEN BAY (-3 1/2) loses to Tennessee
SEATTLE (-1) loses to Los Angeles Rams
NEW ENGLAND (+7) loses to Buffalo
