POLL QUESTION – MAY 30
By ISM Staff & Contributors

Before I get into our POLL QUESTION for this week, I ask you to please take a moment and remember all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to have the freedom that we do.  They are proof that freedom isn’t free.

We cannot recognize those great men and women who have fallen that are honored on Memorial Day in person.  What we can do is just pause for a moment and, in whatever way you so desire, thank them for what they did to make this the land of the free because of the brave.

Our poll question this week is one that I, personally, though we would never be discussing as a group.  This feat just goes to cement the old adage that goes “never say never” when it comes to athletic endeavors.

HOW WOULD YOU RATE PHIL MICKELSON WINNING THE PGA AND BECOMING THE OLDEST PLAYER TO WIN A GOLF MAJOR AT 50 TO OTHER PHENOMENAL FEATS IN SPORTS?

So, without further adieu, here’s our responses.  Enjoy.

JOHN LENTZ – NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL ANALYST
Incredible! Like Jack winning The Masters at age 46.

STEVE JACOBSON – PHOTO JOURNALIST
Would rate it a 10!  Got to hand it to him for continuing to do what you like over 50 and showing EVERYONE, if you make the cut, anyone can win it all.  Way to go Lefty!.

KAZLIN RIVARD – NFC NORTH CORRESPONDENT
To compete at the highest level in any sport into your 40’s, and in this instance 50’s, is absolutely incredible and deserves all the praise and attention in the world. Sure, Tom Brady being 43 and winning a Super Bowl as the starting QB is unparalleled, but he also had incredible talent around him on both sides of the ball (not discrediting this feat whatsoever). However, Phil went out there and proved to everyone single handedly that age is nothing but a number. Hats off to him and I applaud this effort to be cemented in sports history for one of the all-time greatest stories of perseverance and determination.

DAVID ALEXANDER – AFC WEST CORRESPONDENT
A monumental feat for a golfer approaching his 51st birthday.  To play that well for four days in remarkable.  He’s made changes to his approach to the game that paid off for him.  There’s a lesson there for all of us!

JEFFREY NEIL FOX – EDITOR
You can till you can’t!  Age is a line in the sand.

LEO HAGGERTY – EDITOR
On a scale of 1 to 10, this one rates a 12 or even higher.  This would be a solid 10 if it was any golf tournament but, being that it was one of golf’s four Majors, that’s takes the win by Lefty off the charts.  That fact that Mickelson outdueled all of  professional golf’s “young guns” is nothing short of phenomenal.  We witnessed history and it’s something may never be repeated at least in my lifetime but never say never, right?
