SZNAP CHAT – NOVEMBER 27

NCAA COACHING CAROUSEL
In case you missed it, Thanksgiving Weekend 2021 is the year that the NCAA finally became a circus. I wanted to spend some time analyzing Billy Napier, the Florida Gators new coaching hire, but there has been so much going on that it seems irresponsible to comment on just that. So don’t worry, I will expound more.
Here are my thoughts on some of the top college coaching storylines:
BILLY NAPIER TO UF
I absolutely LOVE this hire. Napier has been an assistant under Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney, and has led the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to three straight 10 win seasons. Napier brings a CEO mentality and fire for recruiting that is needed in Gainesville after a disappointing end to the Dan Mullen era.
LINCOLN RILEY TO USC
WOW! This one took everyone by surprise. After pretty much steering away all questions by saying he would not take the LSU job, Riley shocked everyone by taking the USC job the very next day. Riley seemed to want to avoid Oklahoma’s move to the SEC and the reported deals of the USC offer ($100+ million and a house) seem hard to turn down. This also seems like a good career move for someone who is eventually looking for a job in the NFL.
BRIAN KELLEY TO LSU
WOW WOW!! If the Lincoln Riley move was a shocker, than this one was pure electrocution. Announced mere hours before I am writing this, it was released that Kelly is leaving a team, that might even be in the College Football Playoffs for an attractive, yet rebuilding, job at LSU. I don’t really get this one as Notre Dame is one of the cushiest jobs in sports but sometimes its time to move on when the opportunity comes and the money is record breaking,
Open Vacancy Predictions
This isn’t open yet but there has definitely been chatter that Mario Cristobal might be on his way from Eugene to Coral Gables. Also Lane Kiffin is coming to be his offensive coordinator. Expect another year of Manny Diaz.
Will Venable (Clemson DC) This is another one the chatter is pushing, Venable could take his chance and leave a Clemson program possibly entering a down period for the allure of leading a historic program into the SEC.
Urban Meyer (Jaguars HC) Because why not? It’s his dream job and he’s Urban Meyer.
